Anchor Root

Anchor Root

  • Female Ant Gnoll
  • Rain Scribe
  • Bonekeeper-in-Training

Anchor Root is an ant gnoll, a 3-foot-tall humanoid who resembles an aardwolf more than a deadly carnivore. She hails from the small Redridge clan, several weeks’ travel south-west from the Magaambya. Her clan has been in decline for several decades, with important storytellers and religious leaders dying before suitable replacements could be trained. Anchor Root is the only child in the clan with the potential talent o replace Redridge’s aging bonekeeper. It's so much pressure! She pirates music on her rhythm bones, with a tendency towards industrial music with a heavy beat.

Anchor Root's mask is of a crested porcupine; the frills on the back are made from the lucky bones sshe found. These shy porcupines are known to collect bones.

In spring of 4722, got in trouble for recording a Mithrilica concert; helped by Alrinkiri to record more shows without getting caught.

Hobbies: concertgoing, raising beetles, musical curation.
Most Well Known For: interrupting herself halfway through a presentation to exclaim “I’m sorry, I’m boring you” and running out of the room crying.
Strangest Quirk: always talks quiet, says "umm…", and apologizes
Common Associates: Esi (working on music playback magic), Noxolo (scavenging bones), Tzeniwe (stress baking).

Lucky Bones

Lucky Bones

Chizire

Chizire

  • Male catfolk
  • Cascade Bearers
  • Slacker

Chizire is known for the still he added to his room, and the interesting brews he concocts. Chizire’s keen ability to teach himself magic and science are just enough to get by… even if the catfolk mostly uses his gifts to keep slugs out of his fermentation barrels. He seems to like pranks, and might be coming around.

Chizire's mask is that of the speckled emperer moth; the moth's camoflague eyes cover his own to make it seem like he's always wide awake. Now, the lazy cat can get away with even more naps!

Hobbies brewing, engineering, finding new and exciting ways to avoid work.
Most Well Known For: building a complete moonshine still in his dorm room from scrap.
Strangest Quirk: always knowing the answer when called on despite visibly sleeping through class.

Every school has its star students, and anyone who knows Esi Djana knows that she’s one of them. She fiercly strives to live up to her mother, who she idolizes and is also a Tempest-Sun mage. She may never be able to live up to the idealized image of her mother, but perhaps someday she can learn. She likes to follow the rules and has a kind heart.

Esi's mask is a fearsome cape buffalo, complete with sweeping horns. She will work to protect everything she loves.

Haibram

  • Male dwarf
  • Tempest Sun
  • Daredevil

Haibram is known for his feats of daring — including his hang-gliders that soar ever higher and higher. He's also a lover of fire and pyromania. He'd probably be a Tempest-Sun mage except they focus a bit too much on defense and not wnough on raining fire and destruciton down on their enemies.

Haibram's mask is that of a harrier hawk. The daredevil is pleased to have a nible raptor for his spirit animal. Death and destruction from above indeed!

In spring of 4722: won the MECHA-LESHY tournament and swapped to Tempest Sun. Started dojo with Mafika; the top members have awesome leopard bomber jackets and Alrinkiri is one of them too.

To date, Mariama has nearly started a cult by accident while drunk, been subjected to school discipline for selling curses, and had her heirloom magical staff disintegrated by a freak bolt of lightning. Skunky-sweet fumes often emanate from her dorm room.

Mariama's accidentally splashed several jars of paint on her snake-like mask. The random pattern created is that of a bush viper.

Hobbies combat theory, occult lore, linguistics.

Noxolo

Noxolo

  • Female Human
  • Uzunjati
  • Augur / Dancer

  • Location unknown

Noxolo's past remains mysterous to most. Whether she's smoking cloves in the graveyard or at an underground rave, she is accompanied at all times by a bizarre, 2-foot-long pet she refers to as her “snabble,” a creature that resembles a fuzzy cross between a crocodile and a bear cub. She wears daring and experimental hair styles.

She has only opened up to Soomdevi, whom she told about her past life and her time on the run.

Noxolo was once a noble, from a powerful family. She fled from her home to escape her overbearing family, who had planned out every aspect of her life, including a prearranged marriage to a woman she didn't even know, a boring job in the bureaucracy, uptight social events on the weekends… everything she didn't want. And her parents wouldn't have it any other way, so Noxolo had to go on the run. She disguised herself to hide from the bounty hunters her family sent after her. She wandered for a long time… and during that time, she discovered her own true self.

It was then that the powers came. She started hearing the dead birds whispering to her. They told her where she could be free to truly be herself, and where the past would be dead forever.

Noxolo's mask is that of lappet-faced vulture. A dark and brooding emissary of passage to the beyond.

Hobbies dance, high fashion, watching motes of dust float through the air.
Most Well Known For: using very few words, but they are laden with meaning.
Strangest Quirk: dancing pretty much all the time.

Tzeniwe's peacock spider mask comes out with crooked eyes because that's where Zachva and Zanvi put them. It's perfect because she loves everythign her kids do!
